X-ray: 4 hours approximately

MRI results should be ready within 24 hours. However, we can have your scans ready within a couple of hours if requested by your referring doctor.

CT scans take approximately 24 hours

You should receive your results within 6 hours.

• Reports are automatically sent to the referring doctor.

• Results are also uploaded to the patient portal within 7 days, with a link texted to you on the initial visit.

Yes, all examinations require a referral.

• Preparation vary based on the referral. However, fasting for 6-8 hours is necessary for Ultrasound Abdomen. Please Drink 1 litre of water 1 and 1/2 hours before your appointment for all Renal Tract, prostate, Kidney and pelvic examinations.

An ultrasound referral is required along with your mammogram referral unless you have had one within 3 months performed at Medscan Merrylands.

Most Medicare eligible exams are bulk billed (except some MRI). Obstetrics ultrasound over 22 weeks are not bulk billed, but a Medicare rebate is offered.

Yes, appointments are required for Most examinations except for X-ray OPG Most Ct’s and Ultrasound.

MRI cost starts from $190 per region, and a referral is required before booking.

Referral can be uploaded via the online booking link or emailed to info@medscan.com.au.

Yes, you will receive a link following your initial examination with a prompt to download the app. We will also provide you with a password which will be in the text message. For password resets or urgent results, contact for assistance. Password resets may take up to 7 days, and urgent results are sent to the referring doctor within 24 hours.

No gap payment is required for billed exams. All non bulk billed examination can be paid with cash or card on the day of your appointment.

Nuchal translucency screenings, Cone beam Ct, Pelvic prolapse, Venous insufficiency Doppler, Breast MRI, and Prostate MRI (available at the Barangaroo site) are not offered at Medscan Merrylands.
