CT GUIDED
ΜΕΣΟΛΑΒΗΤΙΚΟΣ

CT guided injections are performed with the aid of our State of the Art CT scanners. Using real time 3D CT imaging, allows our radiologist to inject medication adjacent to nerves, within joint spaces or around the spinal canal with greater precision.
These injections are considered after physiotherapy and oral-medication have been tried and the patient still experiences pain.
These minimally invasive procedures work by treating the inflammation around the area or may be used to diagnose where the pain is.
Please bring your referral, Medicare and Pension Health Care Cards with any previous imaging relating to the region being scanned.
You will need someone to accompany you in order to ensure you get home safely as it not advised to drive a vehicle post procedure. You may return back to normal activities the following day.
Please confirm with your doctor that you should continue taking your normal medicines.
Please notify us If you are, or may be, pregnant or if you are diabetic.
Please also advise us if you have a recent history of peptic ulcers or on blood thinners.
A radiographer will confirm where the injection will be performed along with a questionnaire and consent form for the injection.
Please let them know if you have any allergies to any medications, skin cleaning solutions, band-aids or any dressings or are on any blood thinners like aspirin or warfarin.
Once you have understood the procedure asked any questions and signed the consent form, you will be asked to change you into a gown.
You will lie on the CT table which will position you within the CT scanner (gantry). It is important that you do not move at all during this procedure.
An antiseptic wash is used to clean the skin over the area and a local anaesthetic is administered using a fine needle. Using the guidance of the CT scanner, the radiologist will guide a needle to the precise location where the medication will be administered. Upon competition of the injection, the needle will be removed, and a dressing will be placed over the injection site.
After your examination, the images from your study will be available on the Medscan Z-tech app. A report written by our radiologists, along with the images will be sent directly to your referring doctor. Medscan will store digital copies of all studies on our secure database for comparison with any future examinations. All images are available online with the Medscan Z-link app
